“I’m rewatching all of the original series of Star Trek and writing an accompanying poem to go with each episode. … I was probably six when I wrote my first poem which I typed up on my family’s dial up computer. It was a series of garden poems, and I drew flowers to go with each one. It got sent to my grandfather who lived in Alabama at the time. So every holiday, every birthday, he sent me a book of poetry. And my grandfather enjoyed Star Trek; one of the last movies that we saw together before he passed away was the new reboot of the Star Trek films. So I’m writing poems about Star Trek that are poems about me and poems about my grandfather.”
